By students – for students. That is our motto. Jönköping Student Union is here for you during your time at Jönköping University. You can look at JSU as a trade union for all JU students. With almost 9000 members, we can really make an impact on your education, wellbeing and life in Jönköping.
We make sure to have student representatives in various committees on and off campus, that handles everything from the quality of your studies to housing issues. You will find JSU representatives in committees that advocates for your health and for a better work environment.
The membership in JSU is mandatory when you study at JU. JSU was founded in 1947 and has been a force to reckon with ever since. Today, we have almost 9000 members, 4 study associations and 21 interest associations. There are 6 employees and 7 renumerated people working full time to make your time at JU as good as possible.
The iconic yellow logo that is used is commonly called “the cheese” in the JSU office. While it might look like a cheese, it had a deeper meaning when it got chosen in 2003. The four corners were to represent the four parts of the organization – decisions, voluntary, service and projects. They all surround the most central part of the organization – you. The circle in the middle represents the student.
We have already established that we are your voice. We are who makes sure there are two KickOffs every year.
We are Rio, your student café where you can get the cheapest cup of coffee on campus. We are the owner of Akademien Nightclub, where you can celebrate or dance away your test results.
We are our associations, and all their engagement. We are buddies to the international students, and we are trips, arranged by and for students.
We are sittningar, performances and social events. We are everything our members need us to be.
